Have you heard of New Jersey Real ID driver’s licenses? Starting in May 2023, if you are traveling by airplane within the United States, you need to have the federally compliant Real ID driver’s license (designated by a small star at the top right) or another federally approved ID (such as a passport). Here’s a tip: if you want to make an appointment to get a Real ID with the Department of Motor Vehicles, try first thing in the morning (around 7 am). Each morning, the DMV releases a new set of appointments, so the earlier in the day you log in, the better chance you have of finding an appointment at a DMV office that is near where you live.
