Susan’s Spectacular Sites for Book Lovers

Some people might think that a library is the perfect place for a book lover to work, but our Susan would beg to differ. “It’s so hard to see all these great books coming in and out of the library! I want to read them all, but I just don’t have time, because I have to work!” Still, she manages to squeeze in some reading almost every day. Here, she shares some great book and author-related sites with you, her fellow bibliophiles! Happy reading.

Let me tell you about, one of my all-time favorite websites. Goodreads is what I like to call the book lovers’ answer to Facebook. You can create an account (for free) and keep track of what books you are reading. You have the ability to rate the book and give a review. I find this a better way to keep track of what I’m reading than writing it down on a list that I know I will lose. Based on the books you read, Goodreads will also give you suggestions of books and authors you might also enjoy.

Here’s where it gets even more fun. You can become “friends” with other readers on Goodreads–this enables you to see what they are reading and you can also recommend books to them.  I love being able to see what my family and friends are reading and often read books recommended by them. It’s also fun to follow my favorite authors and see what they’re reading.

Once you’ve signed up, you can get news and information about new books coming out from your favorite authors or authors you’ve read. There are community groups, discussions, events and giveaways (I’ve won a number of these!!), and so much more!!! The “News & Interviews” section often gives insight into an author’s writing processes and what books they are reading and recommend. It’s always fun to see what John Grisham, Margaret Atwood, Celeste Ng and others are reading and the books they recommend. Go to and sign up today! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!!

John Grisham has been a favorite author of mine since his first book, “A Time to Kill” (also a movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Samuel L. Jackson). This is also his most popular book, and I think it’s arguably his best. In 2013, “Sycamore Row” went back to Mississippi and Jake Brigance; a third book, “A Time for Mercy” is scheduled for release in October 2020.

Many of his books are legal thrillers and 12 have been made into movies. Grisham’s books are always on my “to read” list! You can read more about his books and his biography on his website:

John Grisham recently had a conversation with Delia Owens (“Where the Crawdads Sing”)  to discuss his newest thriller CAMINO WINDS on Facebook. Click the link to watch:

I also enjoyed watching his conversation with Stephen King on You Tube:
