Tax Time

February 4, 2021

Dear friends and neighbors,

Yes. It is that time of year again! Wanaque Library has plenty of paper copies of the combined federal IRS 1040/1040SR* forms and instruction booklets, so feel free to email us at wanaquelibrary@gmail.com or give us a call at 973-839-4434 to arrange to pick up copies. We also have a few copies of the form in Spanish.

No printer? No problem. Call us or email us at wanaquelibrary@gmail.com, tell us which form(s) you need, and we will print them for you to pick up.

Help! I need the New Jersey 1040 form.  The state of New Jersey doesn’t provide free paper copies of their tax forms to libraries, but we’ll be happy to print one for you. You can also download 2020 NJ tax forms directly from the State Department of Taxation.

Need help filing taxes this year?  Check the NJ211.org site, which compiles a list of places that offer free tax assistance. Please note that due to COVID, fewer sites are offering this service and there may be additional restrictions. The NJ211.org site will always have the latest information available. NOTE: NJ211.org reports that there is an organization called Get Your Refund which can assist you with filing your taxes online. Visit GetYourRefund.org or email hello@getyourrefund.org for more information.

Did your family make less than $72,000 in 2020? You may be eligible to file your federal taxes online for free. Check the IRS Free File page for info.

DIY Forms If you wish, you can download and print federal tax forms or instruction booklets directly from the IRS.  New Jersey tax forms can be downloaded directly from the Department of Taxation.

* Please note that the 1040/1040SR booklet replaces the old 1040EZ and 1040A forms, which were phased out as of the 2018 tax year. For more information on how the 2020 1040 form differs from previous years, check out this article.
